The BPI Learning Plan

The BPI (Bridge Performance Indicator) Learning Plan is a student’s personal roadmap. It helps them set goals, connect learning to their passions, and grow into the Learner of Distinction Profile.

  • Promising Practice

Each student identifies a strength they feel confident in and continue to build on it.

  • Problem of Practice

Each student selects an area where they want to grow and focus their efforts for the year.

  • Personal Goals

Each student selects an area where they want to grow and focus their efforts for the year.

  • Authentic Goals

Each student designs meaningful projects that link learning to their interests and future aspirations.

  • Reflection & Progress Checks

Each student revisits their plan throughout the year to reflect on progress and prepare for Celebrations of Learning.

Innovation and Creativity are not add-ons, they’re core competencies. Learners must be able to generate new ideas, approach challenges from multiple angles, and turn their thinking into solutions that matter. This is how students move from consumers of knowledge to creators of opportunities.

Growth and Achievement are about persistence and progress. A learner is not defined by one grade or one score, but by how they set goals, respond to feedback, and show measurable improvement over time.

A Problem-Solver can break down complex challenges, analyze options, and make informed decisions. This isn’t about memorizing steps—it’s about being resourceful, critical, and adaptive.

Teamwork means more than “getting along.” Learners must know how to contribute meaningfully, listen actively, navigate conflict, and—when necessary—step into leadership.

Communication is more than talking or writing—it’s about connecting ideas clearly and purposefully across different mediums. Learners must be able to listen actively, speak with confidence, write with clarity, and use digital tools responsibly. The Portrait emphasizes that communication is both expressive and receptive, empowering students to share their thinking and engage meaningfully with others.

Service is about contributing to something larger than yourself. Learners show empathy, take responsibility, and strengthen their communities through meaningful service. Service helps students grow as citizens who understand the value of giving back and making a positive impact.

The Learner of Distinction

Portrait of a Learner

The Portrait of a Learner highlights the skills and qualities that prepare students for life, college, and career. Each competency (Service, Problem-Solving, Innovation and Creativity, Growth and Achievement, Teamwork, and Communication) shows a different way learners grow and demonstrate readiness.

Some have measurable scores, others are shown through experiences and reflections, but all are essential to becoming a distinctive graduate.
